It's time to pack away the past LiveJournal drama. You served me well for over 6 years, little journal. But it's time to move on.

I'm not one to do these LiveJournal questionnaires, but this one from Cass's page caught my eye. Mainly because it pertains to careers, and it's not one of the "do you have a crush on someone?" memes.
I don't care if others share their results or not. At least take the survey, it shows some interesting career options.
1. Go to http://www.careercruising.com/. 2. Put in Username: nycareers, Password: landmark. 3. Take their "Career Matchmaker" questions. 4. Post the top ten results (again, optional)
1. Sign Maker 2. Fashion Designer 3. Desktop Publisher 4. Pet Groomer 5. Glazier 6. Autobody Repairer 7. Animator 8. Cartoonist / Comic Illustrator 9. Graphic Designer 10. Artist
#13 was a Medical Illustrator, which sounds like a relatively interesting occupation. Also in the top 25 were Industrial Designer, Interior Designer, Makeup Artist, Set Designer, etc. Mostly design stuff. Shocking, huh?
Speaking of design... I landed my first freelance graphic design job earlier this week. I'm going to be making a series of advertisements for holiday events going on at a golf club. Excited? Yes.

The rest of my co-op with map-lab went incredibly well. I got a scintillating review, and David invited me back for the spring semester. I might try to work with some graphic design firms, though. I'd really like to work professionally on logos and branding.
In other news, I'm about 95% done moving in to my apartment. It's a small space, but it's mine. No roommates to clean up after, I can decorate however I wish... I'm happy :) RCN doesn't come in to install my cable/internet until Thursday. However, the last tenant was late in cancelling her service, so I have cable, and I'm currently using Harvard Medical's guest wireless access. I probably have my own access, but I haven't tried yet.
I got nothin' else to say.

I'm doing some research on Second Life and other current forms of communication.
According to the main page of Second Life's website, users have spend US $1,649,117 in the last 24 hours. $1,649,117 of real money spent on virtual goods and services that exist only in a virtual world.
I'm disturbed by this.

It looks like the last person to have lived here picked a large piece o' boogers out of their nose and wiped it on the wall near the ceiling. Let's keep in mind I'm laying approximately two feet from the ceiling.
Ew.

I must have this print for my apartment in September.

It's my favorite Kurt Halsey print of all time :)

I was looking up some info on Leopardweb-Banner for grades and whatnot, and decided to explore some more links. I clicked on my general student record, which gives info like date of first semester, expected graduation, etc. At the top, they like to note the amount of time the information is valid for.
"Student Information effective from Fall 2006 to The End of Time"
I get what they mean and all, but really? They couldn't come up with anything more poignant than "The End of Time"?

Posting to say it's currently 84 degrees outside, and I'm chillin' on a bench in Evans Way Park. I meant to do work, but forgot my Quality Control book. Whoops. Looks like I'll just have to enjoy the weather without doing work. For shame.
I like to people watch. Right now, there's a slouched man with a very old camera cutting through the park. I like to make up stories about the people I see: where they're going, what they're coming from, what their name is. That man is Marty. He has always loved photography. Unfortunately, every school he went to in his younger years told him that he lacked the skill. To make up for this, he began collecting old photography equipment. He now takes it everywhere with him, using it to capture interesting things he sees in order to breathe new life into this equipment, and create a union of past and present. Every now and then, Marty would hang up a photo in a coffee shop near his apartment. Not too long ago, a professor from MassArt saw his photo and contacted him in order to see more. Marty is now heading over there to meet with the professor, who will inform him that Marty will be allowed to have a display in the next month. Good for you, Marty :)
iTunes is choosing the perfect songs for this moment.

My design is up on Threadless. Vote 5 like you've never voted 5 before.
Also, I guess there was another rendering almost exactly alike not too long ago. But mine's also a lot better (and the other girl goes to a design school, so figure). I guess that's what I get for never checking out the submission area. Vote 5 anyway! :)

Want to get yourself in the Irish spirit? Find yourself "Shipping up to Boston" by Dropkick Murphys (aka the song played during the opening credits in The Departed).
Speaking of music, I'm very easily lost in song today. I need a break from break. Don't worry, it totally makes sense in my head.

Boston's brief respite from the cold is quickly drawing to a close. I decided to take advantage of yesterday's weather and walk down to Newbury St. "Goodbye Sky Harbor" carried me from 555 to the Christian Science Center. It's nice getting lost in a song.
Today was another glorious day, reaching almost 70 degrees. I had a full breakfast from Trackside. Drove around with the sunroof open. In honor of Pi Day, I baked an apple pie. I must say, it came out wonderfully. I accomplished a lot for SLP/WEB. Watched a crapload of Scrubs. And I have the whole suite to myself tonight. I think all of that constitutes a good day.
Yep. It does.

I miss ballet.
